Generations can be confusing to many buyers! Don’t worry – I’m here to educate!

F1: This is the first generation of a Goldendoodle. A cross between a purebred Golden Retriever and a purebred Poodle.

F1b: This is a cross between an F1 Goldendoodle and a purebred Poodle.

F1bb: Cross between an F1b Goldendoodle and a purebred Poodle.

F2: Cross between an F1 goldendoodle and an F1 goldendoodle (this cross would produce improper coats).

Multigenerational: A multigen is anything beyond an F2.

The goal of my program is to breed healthy, well tempered, dogs with the best coat traits possible. In my expert opinion, multigens are best for non-shedding and hypoallergenic qualities! Often times, first generations (F1, F1b, F1bb, F2 etc.) have unpredictable results and you can end up with a moderate shedding and non-hypoallergenic coat.

I started breeding F1 goldendoodles and have bred my dogs over several generations to achieve a very consistent, highly desired coat. Many people prefer wavy and straight coats. These coat types are easier to maintain. Some people prefer the curly coats and I will breed for that look as well.
